Dance is a passion, a truly escape from everything that worries and stresses you. Every year, a professional dance team organises a Salsa boot camp in beautiful Volos in Central Greece. But, what is salsa exactly? Salsa dancing is a dance style associated with the salsa style of music now popular worldwide. Salsa music has its origins sometime in the 1950s to 1970s, with the truly distinct salsa style coming out of New York in the 1970s. The music fuses a number of Cuban styles, particularly theson, but also draws from a number of other Latin American musical styles.
Salsa Boot camp was an idea that started to grow slowly and nowadays it has transformed in a great event that is gathering every year people from all around Greece and Europe as well as high level instructors of the national and international salsa scene. The Greek Salsa Bootcamp is going on successfully for the 6th year in a row at 2-5 July 2015 and it has been recognized as the best summer event and one of the best salsa events in Greece, putting the city of Volos and central Greece in the international salsa map.
Some of the best performers of the world will be the instructors for this unique Salsa Bootcamp. Leon Rose and Sabrina Halil from France, Lionel Vero from France, Salsa La Vista from Bulgaria and many, many more! Of course for one more time will be there, Antonis&Hara one of the most popular Greek dance couples, one of the first that represented Greece abroad as salsa instructors and performers and also 3rd World Kizomba Champions 2014 (Africadancar International Kizomba Championship, Milano 2014)!
This year, together with Salsa, the boot camp will offer you Dancehall, Afrobeats and Kuduro/Afrohouse workshops as well as more Kizomba!
And as Agnes George de Mille, an American dancer and choreographer, said “to dance is to be out of yourself. Larger, more beautiful, more powerful. This is power, it is glory on earth and it is yours for the taking!”
