Initially, we would say that there are many different choices, and you might be overwhelmed by the varied choices!
But, don’t panic! Let’s see if we can help you with choosing the desired accommodation in this dreamed region!
Usually, we stay outside Chania town, as we prefer a quiet place in front of the sea and can easily drive into the town. But this works for us! Some people prefer to be inside the town and feel the energy of the place! It is totally up to you!
We will present the best hotels and apartments inside Chania town, where all the magic happens, plus some accommodation value for money.
Additionally, we will give some tips for staying outside the town! The Chania region is quite large, so if you want to visit some of the most beautiful beaches in Chania, you can use Chania old town as your starting point and have some daily trips to the beaches.
Finally, you will find tips, reviews, photos and at the end a map with all the locations of the mentioned hotels.

- You can fly to Chania, as it has an international airport located quite close to Chania town.

Best hotels in Chania town
1. Querini Luxury Suites
This apartment is in the same complex as the food market, and as you can easily imagine, everything is super close!
It’s an excellent place to stay with a lovely sunroof and hot tub! An extra plus is the host, Manolis, who elevates the whole experience!
Note that there is public parking about 3 minutes walk from the apartment, which really nice to have, but it can be pretty packed during the high season. More information here!
2. Ambassadors Residence Boutique Hotel
There are not much to say about this luxurious hotel! It is a high-quality hotel with an excellent location and accommodating staff!
Especially the rooms which overlooks the harbour have stunning views!
It is very clean -quite important especially during this period!- and well decorated! More information here!
3. Hotel Off
A great hotel where the old and the new co-exist in lovely harmony. And one more time, I will highlight the spot-on location of the hotel! The rooms, the terrace, the courtyard and the breakfast are just superb! More information here!
4. Casa Delfino Hotel & Spa
You might remember this hotel as it is on our list with the best historic hotels in Greece!
In the heart of Chania’s charming old town, there is Casa Delphino Hotel and Spa, which is an original 17th-century Venetian mansion. It’s a stunning Venetian building with unique decorations.

5. Monastery Estate Venetian Harbor – Chania Town
The Monastery Estate Venetian Harbor is located in a beautifully renovated hotel, conveniently located in the old town of Chania and it has an easy access to the old Venetian Harbor and to various sightes and restaurants.
The design of the hotel is outstanding with little details that makes this place great!

6. Morfeas Hotel
This hotel is located in the heart of Chania old city and only 2′ away from the sea! A lot of restaurants, cafes and other cool places are very close.
I would recommend getting a room with a balcony as it gives an extra dimension to your stay! Also, take into account that there is no elevator in that hotel. More information here!
7. Doge Traditional Hotel
The location is ideal for exploring Chania old town. The rooms are gorgeous, like an old castle, with a comfortable double bed with a fairytale sky and very clean!

8. Porto Veneziano Hotel
The sea and the Venetian harbour view are magnificent.
The hotel has its own parking and behind there are two large public parking! It is easy to reach by car, and there are many restaurants and cafes.

9. Kores Boutique Houses
It is ideally located in the old town. A small garden makes it ideal for breakfast or coffee, and I think it is even better in reality.

Best apartments in Chania town
10. Centro Urban Chania
That’s a nice and quiet apartment. The location is excellent, as it is a few blocks from the central market and the Venetian port. More information here!
11. Minaret Suites and Apartments
These apartments are close to the old harbour with easy access to bars and restaurants. Very clean, which is not always the case in apartments! More information!
12. The48suites
In a lovely alley, you will find this excellent accommodation! Very quiet rooms despite being quite central with great style and decoration!

What can be said about this hotel?!
It is situated at the end of the harbor, and it provides a sense of tranquility while you are close to the charming narrow little streets of the old town!
The decoration in the Venetian style is just superb, and from your rooms, you can enjoy the glorious view of the lighthouse!
The breakfast is terrific, and it is served in a beautiful place just in front of the sea! As this is historic from Venetian time, there are no elevators if you have any mobility issues. But the staff is super helpful, and they will assist you with that as well! More Information Here!

14. Marias Studios
This is a nice studio on the smaller side, but very clean and with a great location. More information here!
15. Brigitte house
This is a lovely apartment with two bedrooms and a lounge – kitchen area. The location is excellent as it’s about 10′ walking distance to the old town. A great plus is the parking that is available in the street in front of the house. More information here!
Best hotels outside Chania town
As I described in my post about our 8-day itinerary in Chania, the whole region is an absolute treasure of beautiful spots, beaches and people. You can stay in any of the above hotels in Chania or stay outside closer to marvellous beaches or other beautiful towns like Paleochora, Falasarna, Loutro etc. In that case, you can rent a car and explore the whole region!
Kalyves is a seaside village 20′ from Chania. It has a lovely sandy beach and restaurants if you want to relax during the day and visit picturesque Chania during the night.
16. Porto Kalyves – Kalyves
These apartments have a fantastic view of the sea, and you will enjoy your coffee or your breakfast looking at the deep blue!

17. Monastery Estate Retreat – Sougia
It’s a beautifully designed hotel with private pools in most of the rooms! The view in the area is impressive, and you can enjoy lovely walks just below the property with the best mountain views!
Super comfortable beds, quiet and peaceful to sit outside the room. The hotel is located right outside a calm village near Sougia beach.

18. Renieris Hotel – Stalos
This is a high-quality accommodation with excellent personal service and a great breakfast with lots of choices!
You will enjoy the delicious breakfast or enjoying your dinner by the poolside! The view is stunning, as the hotel is located on a hill!

19. Domes Noruz Chania, Autograph Collection- Adults Only – Kato Daratso
This is a very stylish, relaxed and modern boutique hotel, with friendly and helpful staff. The beach is great, and the spa is highly recommended!
Delicious breakfast with a wide range of choices! The location isn’t particularly interesting, but you can walk quite easily to local restaurants. More Information Here!
20. Blue Horizon – Palaiochora
This is a beautiful hotel located right on the beach, close to shopping and restaurants, and note that it has parking!
I recommend booking one of the sea view rooms which have great sunset views. More Information Here!
21. Agarathos Rooms Kaliviani – Kaliviani, Kissamos
Excellent location in the countryside, very close to Kissamos and some of the best beaches in the area!
It is 11km away from breathtaking Balos, 49 km from Elafonisi and 6 km from Fallasarna beach. Mavros Molos beach in Kissamos is 10 minutes by car! It has a beautiful garden and swimming pool!
A short walk to the square, and I recommend Agarathos Taverna’s amazing home-cooked food right around the corner! More Information Here!
22. Naya – Kissamos
This was a pleasant surprise for us, as we wanted accommodation to discover the west part of Crete! And we weren’t disappointed! It is a cosy small family hotel in a tranquil place, and it is nice for a family. The rooms are nice and clean, but the big plus is that it located on the beach! You can enjoy your breakfast or coffee, or lunch a few meters away from the beach. The beach is covered with pebbles, but in the sea, the bottom is rocky for the first meter, but then the bottom is sandy. Note that sometimes the beach can get quite windy. More Information Here

We stayed there in August of 2020. Its 5km west of Chania at Kato Stalos, and is a great hotel, with great facilities & great food.
The owner, Giorgio, and his staff offer hospitality 2nd to none ,they were only to happy to help with any queries and – what’s more – they have adopted secure COVID awareness practises throughout. It was a really great experience that we plan to repeat in May of this year.
