- There is no airport in Spetses and the only way to get there is by ferry and by car and boat. If you need more information about how to get there but also what to do, we have written our mini travel guide with the best things to do there!
- In case you go to Spetses island by ferry then you can use Ferryscanner to book the ferry tickets! This is a Greek travel startup and they have done a fantastic job! Also, if you are thinking of the island hoping this is the best platform that I have seen!
- Spetses has many restaurants and great bars and nightlife.
- Best Luxurious Hotel: Poseidonion Grand Hotel
- Best value for money: Argonaftis Spetses
- Best sweet: Tiramisu Sweets & Coffee
- Personally, I book all my hotels in Chania through Booking.com, as nowadays it includes many apartments, just like Airbnb and it’s easier and more reliable.
Where to stay in Spetses
The majority of the nicest villas and hotels are located in the old harbour and new harbour, which is called Dapia.
In these two places, you will find old, wonderful and renovated mansions but also small apartments and studios.
There are some settlements that you can book outside the main town, but you might feel a little bit isolated and the options are not so many.
Best Hotels in Spetses Island
Poseidonion Grand Hotel – Dapia
No list with the best hotels in Spetses cannot start without Poseidonion Grand Hotel. It is a truly iconic place, and it feels like you are staying at a traditional old mansion! The breakfast is really delicious, and I strongly recommend getting a SPA treatment, as all staff members are very professional and know their job! All members of staff are very professional and helpful. Location-wise, the willingness of staff to guide around the island and the feeling of the place makes this hotel quite special! More Information Here!
Orloff Resort – Old Harbour
This is a quiet and comfortable hotel, which is well-placed for the old port restaurants, though a longer walk from the bustle of the new port (20′ walk and 3′ motorbike). The hotel’s design is fantastic, in a magically landscaped garden with neat decoration and a lovely pool! The hotel also offers a complimentary shuttle for arrival and departure at the port! More Information Here!
Economou Mansion – Dapia
This is just a wonderful place to stay! The mansion has been built around 170 years ago, but the rooms are stunning and in excellent condition for a building built in the 1850s! The enclosed courtyard feels very special with a lovely pool! The hotel is quiet yet only 5-10′ on foot from the main town. The breakfast is so good, and the menu changes often, and the breakfast is served inside and outside by the pool (at least in the pre-covid era!). More Information Here!
Villa Nika – Agia Marina
A beautiful villa with a great pool and tasteful decoration. Very close to Agia Marina beach (3′ walk), which is lovely. It’s also close to the old port, which has excellent restaurants and a 5′-10′ minute walk to a mini supermarket. Breakfast is served in a quiet and beautiful setting by the pool. The owner, Maria, is very helpful and can give you valuable tips! More Information Here!
Mimoza – Old Harbour
This is a lovely hotel with nice balconies where you can relax and absorb the sun all day! The location is perfect, as it is a short walk from town but inland, which gives you peacefulness. I think the star of this accommodation is the owners who will help you and assist you as much as they can! More Information Here!
Zoe’s Club – Dapia
A short walk up the main road, far from the noisy atmosphere of the port, and you will immediately be thrilled on entry to see the lovely pool and the tasteful decoration of the complex. This is one of my favourite hotels on the island. The hotel has been recently nicely renewed with a perfect taste in every detail. The staff is professional and very polite! From the upper floor, you will have a nice view of the sea and the surrounding area! More Information Here!
Mare Monte Luxury Suites – Agios Mamas
This is a lovely hotel and not a typical huge and commercial hotel. Maria, the host, is such a pleasant person, always greeting you with a smile and ready to assist you and guide you! It is only a 5-minute walk from the harbour in Agios Mammas. The hotel is spotless and tidy, and the veranda where you can enjoy your breakfast is very nice. The building’s old character is beautifully maintained, and the decor is exceptional. More Information Here!
Villa Martha – Agia Marina
The location of this villa is excellent and only a short walk to the beach and the old port and 2′ to the supermarket. The villa itself is beautiful, perfect for families with a pool, pretty plants and lemon trees! The staff at the hotel are polite and warm and always happy to help you with tips and recommendations. Breakfast is served usually in the garden and includes freshly squeezed juice from the orange trees, fruits, small croissants, cereals etc. More Information Here!
Oltremare Inn – Kounoupitsa
You can like many things about Oltremare Inn, but what really stands out is the hospitality, which is simply fantastic! Breakfast is exceptional, from homemade cakes and sweets to eggs, fresh fruits and much more! Perfect size swimming pool, deep enough one end to dive into. Location-wise, it is close enough to all the shops, bars, restaurants and beaches and far enough to feel secluded. More Information Here!
Armata Boutique Hotel – Dapia
It is a pleasant surprise in the centre of Spetses, especially entering the hotel and smelling all flowers. The hotel was impeccably clean, and so is the fantastic swimming pool. Personally, I think Armata’s biggest asset, though, is its people with their warm and happy personalities and their eagerness to assist their guests. The location is excellent, only a few steps away from the port. Last but not least, it provides an exceptional breakfast as most of them are homemade with a great variety of pies, handmade jams (the fig is perfect!) and a variety of cheeses. More Information Here!
Argonaftis Spetses – Agios Mamas
This is an excellent value for money choice! The hotel is located in a quiet side street but less than 5 minutes walk from the harbour and its shops and restaurants. The property may not have sea views, but it is compensated for being centrally located, very quiet and with straightforward access everywhere!! The room that we stayed in was spotless and tidy! More Information Here!
