- The best time to visit Naxos Island is from May until early October. Of course, the high season is July and August, which makes September (my favourite month) and June the best months to visit.
- Naxos is a large island, and you might need to rent a car. But if you want to avoid this extra cost, Naxos has a reasonably good Bus Network (KTEL) (More information here, but the page is only in Greek!).

Which are the best areas to stay in Naxos island?
Naxos is a large island with many small villages and a central town.
Therefore, there are many different places to stay on the island.
However, we recommend the below places to stay in Naxos as they are close to the main town and some fantastic beaches!
Chora town
The first and obvious choice is Chora, which is the main town on Naxos. It has everything!
There are plenty of restaurants and cafes, little shops for souvenirs, and amazing bars with magnificent views.
And all these are inside picturesque alleys and whitewashed houses!
Here, begin all the buses to the whole island and note that Naxos is one of the best bus networks in the Cyclades if you want to avoid renting a car!
Agios Georgios
This area is like an extension of Chora town, very close to all the hustle and bustle. Here, there is a beautiful, sandy, blue-flag beach!
Agios Prokopios – Agia Anna – Plaka
These three beaches are one next to the others and are really beautiful!
The first one is Agios Prokopios, which is located between four lakes and a national park behind. It is considered one of the best beaches in Greece!
Then, there is Agia Anna, which has plenty of tavernas, bars, and coffee shops.
Plaka is quieter, with beach bars and many windsurfing activities.
All three beaches are pretty close to Chora, but you will need a car or take the bus service. Note that these places do not have a village feel, but the gorgeous beaches offset this!

This new hotel was opened in 2019 and is located right on Saint George Beach in Naxos, with stunning views of the ocean and sunsets! Babis is a super host, giving good advice and ready to help! More Information Here!
4. Argo Boutique Hotel – Chora
The hotel is close to the beach and the bus, and you will find great restaurants. It is also close to downtown but away from the hustle of that area. The staff was very friendly and helpful! More Information Here!

This hotel is close to the town (you might need transport), calm, and has an unobstructed marvellous sea view. The owners, Panagiotis and his mother, will do their best to ensure your comfort, from cleaning to homemade food! More Information Here!

6. Santa Katerina Apartments & Studios – Chora Naxos
This hotel is just a short walk from the beach and the main town centre and therefore you will have easy access to many restaurants and supermarkets! You can get the two-bedroom Grand Suite, which can easily sleep a family of 5! More Information Here!
7. Kavos Boutique Hotel Naxos – Stelida
This lovely boutique hotel is situated in Stelida, close to Agios Prokopios—around a 10-minute walk down to the beach. 8. The Saint Vlassis
This is a great hotel that is value for the money. The staff, especially Kostas, the host, is accommodating, and your rooms get cleaned every day! The breakfast is delicious, and it is only 15 minutes’ walking to the centre! More Information Here!
9. Studios Panos
Studios Panos has a spot-on location, as it is a 1′ walk from the beach and around a 5′ walk from the port. It has a relaxed and friendly atmosphere and an outstanding design! If you can, try to book the top floor sea view room, which is impressive! More Information Here!
This is situated in an excellent quiet location, and it is an easy 5′ walking distance to the old town. Breakfast can be served in the room, and the view from the rooms to the sea is marvellous! More Information Here!
11. Antonia Studios – Agios Georgios
This is in a residential district close to the beach on foot and 10′ from the port. Also, close to stores and restaurants and very clean. The price is usually a big plus! More Information Here!

Marios – the host – is super helpful and will guide you to the best places to visit and eat. It is situated in a mountainous place close to Halki village. All the food that you are going to try is local and fresh!
